About Me: Image
My name is Michelle and I was born with cerebral palsy. Doctors told my parents that I would never walk, graduate from high school or lead a “normal” life. Today, I can do all those things and more. Thankfully, I had an incredible family who refused to accept this limited perspective. They taught me to believe in myself, overcome any challenge and live my life to the fullest. I want to help others do the same.
Like many people with disabilities, there was a period in my life when I was living on benefits. It wasn’t easy, but I have been off disability benefits for over 20 years and I live life on my own terms. I have a wonderful family, including a terrific husband, and good friends. I work and volunteer in my community. I have time for adaptive sports, like cycling and ones that don’t necessarily require modification, such as skydiving. My life is proof that with the right mindset and support, I can do anything...which means you can too.
My journey truly began when I met Jesus. I started by prayerfully creating a vision of the life He and I wanted, and over time mapping out strategy for making these dreams a reality. But I didn’t do it alone or get everything right (I still don't),
Everyone needs a little help. My family and faith are mine in the good times or bad. Some, like me. need a lot of help, along with a healthy dose of divine intervention. What I've learned though, is that God loves and values everyone. EVERYONE. I’m no exception. Neither are you.
It is irrelevant if you share my exact faith. We're all different, loved and valued by God, You are valuable, a pearl. I want you to know that your dreams can come true, and it’s MTA's mission to assist you. If we can help you overcome challenges, we would love to help.
